Links

These are the websites that I like most and visit often with reviews of them so you can get an idea of what they are and see if they might be useful to you. I have ranked them in a loose order of best to worst.

My new website
The time has come for me to start a new website. This time, I'm preserving my old one right alongside my new one, because they serve different purposes. This site is about my nerdy stuff and not a lot about who I am. Not to mention the fact that I'm a high schooler now and I want to do something new... Anyway, check it out if you feel like it.
Wikipedia
This is the coolest site! You can learn tons of stuff here. I use it all the time for random learning and defining things.
Palm Infocenter.com
If you're a palm user like me, this is the place to be! I visit at least once a day and it's updated almost that often. The message boards are very active and have tons of information. It really is indespensable for a palm-lover like me.
gnod.net
This is so cool! I can punch in my favorite bands and it will tell me what I will probably like! I also tried the books section and after putting in Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asimov, I got a bunch of sci-fi authors back including Orson Scott Card! I highly recommend this site and I think you should check it out.
Active Buyer's Guide
This is sort of like gnod in that it helps you pick things out. The feature I use is "Decision Guide" which walks you through a 5-15 minute process of making decisions and tradeoffs. I tried it for the PDA/Handhelds section and my T665C poped up. I also tried finding a laptop since I'm going to need one for high school and it suggested some perfect Toshiba Sattelites. The way the make their money is through banner ads and an interesting business based on telling manufacturers what consumers want. Basically, when you use their site, they save your "profile," which includes Age, Gender, and purchase preferences. Then, when manufacturers go to Active Decisions, they can purchase general info about what their users want. I think it's a win-win deal and a very good system.
Darwinian Poetry
Another evolutionary site. This one tries to evolve poetry by non-natural selection. Each visitor goes through the poems at random and decides which ones are better. For more details on how it works, check out their explanation.
Fictionwise
This is another interesting .com. Originally, they published small authors' works for a low price. This way, small authors could get their books published, and I could get cheap, good books. They have now branched out into more mainstream books, but they still maintain their small author group. I have purchased many eBooks that I have read on my palm through Fictionwise.
How Stuff Works
A great source of knowledge. If you're curious about how stuff works, this is the place to find it! The only problem is that you will have to brave the ads. They have a ton of intrusive advertising. I recommend Wikipedia if you can find the info there.
W3Schools
An absolutely great resource for web programmers! You can learn things like XSLT, XML Schema, and Javascript all at the same site in a very informative way. It is free and I believe it is provided by the W3C. The tutorials are very informative and are easy to understand.
Brian's Home Page
My friend Brian's website. He updates it every couple of months with a few new things. Mostly, it has computer game stuff like his HalfLife mod. Eventually, it might be a very useful resource but for now, it's pretty small.
